Quick and Easy Chicken Shawarma: Perfect For Busy Weeknights

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb (450g) boneless chicken or beef
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 2 teaspoons ground cumin
  • 2 teaspoons paprika
  • 1 teaspoon ground coriander
  • 1 teaspoon ground turmeric
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Pita bread
  • Toppings: diced tomatoes, cucumbers, onions, tahini sauce, yogurt sauce

Instructions:

  1. In a bowl, mix together the olive oil, lemon juice, cumin, paprika, coriander, turmeric, garlic powder, salt, and pepper to create a marinade.
  2. Slice the chicken or beef into thin strips and place them in the marinade. Let it marinate for at least 1 hour, or overnight for better flavor.
  3. Preheat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat.
  4. Cook the marinated meat on the grill or skillet for about 4-5 minutes per side, or until cooked through and nicely charred.
